Hello everyone! My daughter will be so pleased to show you her room, but since she cannot type, it'll be me bringing you around. Her brief to me was simple, she wanted a pink room. As a person who doesn't like pink and was unsure about the longevity of her love for the color, I tried my best to give the customer what she wanted while being sensible. Since she's still young, I minimised the built-ins for maximum flexibility when she gets older. Ikea and taobao loose furniture are amazing for kids! While she'd have wanted a more fuschia barbie pink room, I think what we ended up with is a good compromise!
As a concession to her pink desires, we decided to paint one wall of the room pink. I was super fearful that it would become too dark and garish so i picked the most neutral and conservative pink in the catalogue. On hindsight, perhaps I could have been a bit bolder because the pink is hardly noticeable unless you compare it to the white wall. Oh well, paint your own wall next time, kiddo!
Turning to the other side of the room, we've placed the study desk and a very useful set of Ikea shelves for storing her toys and 837464929 other stuff.
A closer look at the study table. Since homework will be ramping up for her soon, we needed a proper study table instead of a casual tiny one. This taobao solid wood table with drawers and shelves is a gem. The finishing is great, and there are thoughtful designs like hooks at the side and a platform to place feet. It also comes with the matching chair as seen here but my child is still a bit short for it so we're using the stokke chair above (and it's pink!).
Here's the only built in - the wardrobe. A "house" design was added on the doors for a subtle fun touch. Both the girl's and boy's rooms have wardrobes in this design, but with different colored houses. Pink here of course! Also, another fun element was added, can you see it?
It's the door handles! Bought these super cute cloud shape door handles from taobao and got the carpenter to install them.
Finally we end the post with the trio of cute animals hanging above the bed. My favourite is the snoozing sloth! With these 3 friends sleeping with her, hopefully she'll be able to stay in bed and sleep independently 😅 Thanks for joining me on this mini room tour.
