  • Welcome to our master bedroom (the only room in our house - for now)! When designing the master bedroom, we were very clear that we did not want a TV in our bedroom as we wanted to maximise the time we had together, as well as getting a good night's rest every night. Additionally, since we were blessed with such a good view, we didn't want to take our attention away from it. One month in and we still marvel in wonder at the view from our bedroom, and waking up every morning is just as sweet!
  • A bedroom cannot be complete without its main feature - the bed. While we contemplated between getting a King or Queen-sized bed for a while, we eventually settled on a King-sized bed for comfort and practicality. As we intend to have children in the near future, we thought we should cater some space for them to cozy up with us for the first few years of their lives. So far, getting a king-sized mattress has been our best decision for the bedroom. We love that we can each turn without bothering the other while sleeping, and it gives ample space for us to have one pillow each for hugging! A bed side niche was also added to allow for ease of storing electronic devices and other personal items. This may not be necessary if you are not doing cabinetry all the way ; we did this to create a more seamless look.
  • Here is another view of our bedroom. As you can see, there is no TV and only storage all around. We wanted to keep all our clothes and personal items within this bedroom as much as possible and thus ensured that we had sufficient cabinetry within.
  • Zooming in a little, you'll see that we have another niche to hang clothes that fall within the grey zone (used but not dirty enough to require a wash yet) haha. As Mrs is also quite picky about differentiating outside clothes from pyjamas, this niche comes in handy as these clothes are within reach and does not clutter the rest of the room as well.
  • We also catered for a vanity area. However, Mrs isn't really big with make-up or dressing up so this is mainly where we dry our hair for now haha. What you may find different about this vanity area is the big window in front of it. Many new maisonette owners would choose to close up the window and turn it into a full wall instead so that they can attach a mirror against it. However, Mr was a huge fan of the natural light and the openness it brings to the room, and completely vetoed the idea of sealing this up. No regrets though!
  • Last but not least, we wanted to also share about this little investment we made for the bedroom. Mr read a lot of articles about the toxicity of formaldehyde and decided to invest in this for health reasons. I guess long-term benefits outweigh the costs? haha It does not function very well as a fan, but we have to admit that it made a difference in the purity of the air in the room. And the formaldehyde smell significantly decreased over time as well!
  • Ending this off with a close-up of the view from our bed room. As you can see, our bedroom is still pretty bare and we also have not installed curtains yet. However, we are really grateful for the space and the time we have had to catch up on rest and relaxation in this space!
