  • To be frank, the living room was the only room we didn't put a lot of thought into during the renovation. We knew we didn't want any built-in cabinets so we could easily rearrange the space, and we needed enough seating for guests to eat and play games. Since we wanted to keep the rooms intact, we didn't knock down any walls to enlarge the living area. That meant finding the best configuration for our dining table, daybed, and TV in the given space. The previous owner had their dining area in the kitchen, which gave more space for living area activities. Since our built-in kitchen cabinets take up most of the kitchen, and we wanted to be able to invite and dine with guests in a communal area, we put the dining table in the living room. That's why the dining table and couch are so close together. But we don't mind!
  • We found the perfect rustic wooden dining table for our space at IKEA. The MÖRBYLÅNGA table has the right dimensions for both sharing and individual plates, and it's super easy to clean. We also love the unique rectangular-framed legs, which create a more spacious feel. To complete the look, we sourced two wooden and leather chairs from Carousell. The chairs are decades old, but they're in pristine condition. We love the story behind them, and we're so grateful to the elderly lady who sold them to us.
  • Here's a view of the daybed from the dining table. The dried baby's breath is a warm addition to the blank canvas of this space (for now). I found the terracotta vase from an expat who was leaving the country and letting go of many home décor items. :)
  • Here's a view of the daybed, where we store our workout weights underneath (if you can spot them). We love working out in the living room in front of the TV, following workout videos. But we haven't found an elegant solution for keeping our weights hidden. They're pretty heavy, so we don't want to damage cabinets by storing them there, and we're trying to avoid gym racks because they take up too much space. If you have any creative or elegant solutions, please share them! The pouffe with storage serves as a leg rest and storage for extra pillows and throws.
  • Our living room is still a work in progress, even after a year of living here!
  • We have a special shelf where we display our favourite personal items. Here are some close-up shots, since we're still shifting things around. We added a money plant pot for a touch of warmth, and I've laid out some ceramic pieces I made when I was eight years old! There are also a few other collectibles I've gathered over the years.
  • Potterheads, can you recognize these items? There's more to come!
  • Some books J and I have collected over the years. There’re still empty space on the shelf we look forward to filing with our most favourite and loved items ❤️
