Hi! We are K&T! Our first home is a 93sqm Scandi-Lux BTO, East of Singapore

The spare room with lots of uses

  • As we changed the usual 4-room BTO layout by creating a class wall right infant of the main door, we were able to carve out a space for the entryway, and close up what used to be the living room into a bedroom. I'm not sure if you can tell, but our door frame is actually wider than the usual HDB doors. Since the wall was all built up from scratch, we could determine how wide we wanted the door to be and had to source for the doors ourselves. This allowed us to get a door that would fit our home perfectly in terms of colour, quality (we wanted full solid wood doors) and gold handles and hinges.
  • Since the room currently acts as a spare room, we use it to store all our dog's toys in the famous IKEA TROFAST storage boxes, some gym equipment and laundry. The room is pretty large (relative to a BTO...), since it was initially meant to be the living room. So we can easily play ball with our dog in here, or even do some HIIT! We also love how the floor to ceiling S-curve curtains from Drapesstudio look here. I feel this kind of curtains give the home a more elegant look and feel.
  • And with the abundance of space, we could transport all the (unsightly) dried clothing from our steigen into this room to be steam ironed. Until the day we have additions to our family, this room shall be used as a miscellaneous room for all our random needs!
