  • Let's talk about lights. If you were my friend irl, this has to be one of the most talked about "item" when I do my house tour. All the lights in my classic farmhouse were purposely thought out, if not added throughout the entire 3 year process since we moved in.
  • Starting from the entryway, we have this cute little farmhouse-suiting entrance light that we've installed with a 2-way switch. It's very useful especially after sunset, and you can switch off when you're in the living room. This was one "tip" that we've brought from our parents' house, and it also acts as a soft light when you're returning home way later than your partner after a night out, and this light keeps the house lit when you enter past midnight. We have it in orange hue so it's not too bright and eyes-piercing :)
  • Moving to the living room, the lightings we have are: 1) Dining table light When designing the house, you'll need to decide where your dining table is and place it right above to main symmetry. While some people don't see a need for a dining light, we feel it's necessary for the ambience, and it's once again in orange hue. 2) Farmhouse "wooden" beams We've installed the "wooden" beams to match a classic farmhouse look, and given it's artificially built, we decided to add small light bulbs (4 of it in total) to use as a day to day living room lighting. It's possibly the most used light in the house! 3) Ambient lighting by the entryway nook (see below)
  • Not the best photo but you kinda get the gist, I was following my classic farmhouse brief really closely haha. I had a hard time finding a good place to place it and I think this suits perfectly and it's not too out of place. Gotta admit it's more for ambient than functional for this one though 😛
  • At the other end of the living room, there's my favourite little swinging chair, now with my added camping light 😂 It serves little function obviously but gives a faux ambience of the outdoors while actually being at home.
  • And you might have seen this photo in my other post, but the focus here is the corridor lights. Since we have this long corridor to our bedrooms, it was useful to add some track lights such that we could use this to assess the other bedrooms at night when necessary without turning on individual room lights. Situations when we're packing the rooms, unpacking our suitcases, and just walking to the kitchen in the middle of the night have us utilise this light.
  • Onto the toilets, I think I've shared this in detail in my bathroom post, but inserting one image here to reiterate the importance of an ambient light in the bathroom. Best utilised during late night and early mornings when your eyes are clearly not fully opened... 🤡
  • Going to the office, while we still have our ceiling fan & light combo, these little lamps create ambience while you're working/ studying. I change them up from time to time, but the aesthetics definitely put you in a good mood :)
  • And finally to the master bedroom! As we have this cute little nook (more in our master bedroom post), we installed this little light to act as an entryway to the bedroom (again, orange hue) so that we could see and lit up the entire bedroom when finding something small, without having to on all the lights in the room.
  • Hope you enjoyed the lights series - because I love my lights haha. Let me know if you have any q's!
