  • Our main priority for the master bedroom was to make it a comfortable space that we look forward to retreating to each day. The first decision we made was to hack the wall between the master bedroom and the adjacent room to create an expansive area for comfortable relaxation and ample storage. Contrary to the other parts of the home where we injected pops of color, we chose darker and more muted tones here to create a serene and calming atmosphere.
  • One advice which we heard time and again was to invest in good quality sleep. This led us to purchase a king-sized mattress (plenty of space for two, no one kicks anyone of the bed!) and Tempur pillows. Nearly a year after moving in, we still appreciate this decision, especially after a long day.
  • In terms of bedding, we've been happy with Akemi Tencel sheets. They retail at $100+ but you can easily get them at $80+ when on sale!
  • One area we chose to save on was furnishings, such as bedside tables and drawers. We found a pair of bedside tables for $25 on Carousell, and the seller was just an overhead bridge away from our block—too good a deal to pass up! While they may not perfectly match the bed for now, they present an opportunity for a future DIY project.
  • The other side of the room is designated for our wardrobe (not pictured as it's still a work in progress) and vanity area. One of our favourite evening rituals is turning on the warm accent lights, cozying up on the bed with our cats, and unwinding with a book/Netflix/some mindless scrolling before turning in 😴
  • We'd like to think that the cats enjoy cozying up in the bedroom with us too 😊
