  • Hello home owners! This week’s post is to introduce our little entryway aka foyer. It’s a simple foyer where the fluted panel feature wall takes the centre stage of this corner of the house. As mentioned in our other posts, this feature wall was actually the original entrance to the kitchen. However, to create an open concept kitchen and some privacy, we built a concrete wall to hide away the kitchen and living area from the main door. Now let’s take a look at our 3D render - this is the view that welcomes us and our guests when we step into the house. We fell in love with the idea of using this dark wood fluted panel as a feature wall, and where we can hang paintings or wall art to create that gallery and home library vibe.
  • This is the actual entryway - a dark coloured walkway with our pre-wed canvas photos as the highlight of the feature wall. 🥰 Fun fact: we took our pre-wed photos in Bangkok and got them printed there as well (so much cheaper versus printing in Singapore). The photos turned out great and it was such a fun session with the local Thai photographer and makeup/ hair stylists. We plan to change up the wall art / photos on this wall depending on our mood and the season. Can’t wait to get our creativity juices going and create different moods when changing these display pieces!
  • To set the scene, we made use of track lights with one shining directly on the painting and 2 others shining at each end of the entryway. A close-up photo of the gorgeous track lights which we picked in wooden tone to match our fluted panel 🤩
  • A hidden DB box cum extra storage for slippers and sandals housed behind these fluted panels. This is also where our WIFI router and modem are located. We didn’t rework this cabinet but simply added a layer of fluted panel to flush it with the new concrete wall.
  • View of our entryway from the living/dining area. A simple walkway with clutter hidden behind those floor to ceiling shoes cabinet. We intentionally matched the cabinet laminate with the dark wood fluted panel to create a sense of consistency given the small area. This dark wood also create a contrast to the lighter Suar wood dining table which is the statement piece in the living/dining room. The ceiling and wall are painted in this shaded grey to create a dark and moody feel, and to make the feature wall pops when the track lights are switched on.
  • For our shoes cabinet, we asked our ID for a niche to place our phones and wallet that Mr puts in his pockets. We also installed 2x PowerPoint so as to charge our phones and ipod or watch upon returning home. Having the charging point here is an excellent choice because of the convenience and proximity to the entrance thus resulting in less likelihood to forget to bring these important items out. There are no products tags here because the display items are all purchased from Bangkok chatukchat market! Bangkok is wonderful for home shopping with many products available at affordable prices. Strongly recommend home owners to visit Bangkok if you are looking for home items and even kitchenware. 🤓
  • Our shoes only take up the bottom half of the cabinet, so we utilized the top half to store things like: - laptop and hand bag - recycle and paper bags - masks, wet tissue and sanitizer - tool box and instructions manual - picnic chairs and mat - medications Rule of thumb for organising the storage space - make sure that the frequently used items are stored at easy-to-access height and location. That’s all for this week’s post; hope you enjoy reading it. Check out our other posts to learn more about our house tour and living/dining area! Follow us on IG @tanhoms for more home contents! ✌🏼
