An Unconventional take on a HDB Jumbo Service Yard perhaps?

Hey everyone! Just wanted to give you a quick recap of our wet kitchen. In many of the jumbo units we viewed (including this one), the service yard/laundry area was placed on the other side of the house. However, we decided to combine the laundry area with the wet kitchen and keep that space open – it now serves as an extension of the living room or maybe even a future additional bedroom!
We sealed off the doorway (marked in green) and moved the kitchen sink closer to the center to make room for the laundry area. We also made a big change by dividing the bathrooms! Now, the playroom has its own bathroom (shared our vibrant orange terrazo kids bathroom previously), and the kitchen/service yard has its own dedicated bathroom, making everything much more functional. At least to us? Haha

We originally planned to have a glass sliding door separating the kitchen and laundry area, but decided against it as we felt it would make the space feel claustrophobic. Absolutely loving our laundry setup – you could say we have 3 dryers! The bottom is a washer-dryer combo, the top is a dryer, and the one hanging… well, you know that’s our trusty Steigen. Most of the time, we just use the washer-dryer combo, but if we’ve got more clothes, we use the washer for the first load and transfer it to the top dryer, then run a second load in the combo. For clothes that can’t go in the dryer, the Steigen comes in handy!
We also built some carpentry to conceal the pipes in this area. The shelves we added are quite short , but they’re perfect for storing laundry detergents and other essentials!

In case anyone is wondering where our rubbish chute is – it's right here! It's super convenient not having to step outside to throw out the trash. A ledge above just in case we need to place something there.

From this angle, you can see the only bathroom that required a step-up. Since there was originally no sewage or toilet bowl here, the step was necessary to cover the piping below. The piping you see above are for the storage heater. We have revealed the kitchen toilet in our Instagram so you can head to @homelyah ig if you are interested.
