  • Welcome to this week’s post, where we will share the lighting choices in our home. Lighting design is essential for making the interior functional, setting the right mood, and ensuring that our home is a comfortable space for all your activities. We truly believe that a room’s atmosphere can be completely transformed just by adjusting its lighting.
  • In our home, we’ve thoughtfully designed a blend of recessed and surface-mounted LED lighting to meet different needs. The primary setup features recessed downlights that provide efficient and balanced illumination throughout the house. Above our kitchen countertop, we’ve added surface-mounted downlights, perfect for creating a cozy atmosphere. When we’re relaxing or reading at the countertop, we often turn the lights off, enhancing the space's calm and inviting vibe.
  • Below you’ll find some pictures showing the different lighting moods in our kitchen and living room.
  • In the living room, we’ve used a combination of cove lighting and recessed downlights to create a relaxing ambience, ideal for movie nights. To enhance both style and energy efficiency, we opted for LED strip lighting, which adds a subtle but impactful glow.
  • Thanks to our well-thought-out setup, our home is bright enough, and we haven’t needed to buy any additional lighting. Tips for New Homeowners: If you’re renovating or building a home, remember that lighting design goes hand in hand with your interior plans. Getting the wiring right is a critical step that will pay off in the long run! Here are a few tips: 1. Plan for Purpose: Think about how you’ll use each room. Will you be listening to music, working, or relaxing? This will help you determine the type of lighting you need and where to place plug sockets and light switches. 2. Consider Furniture Placement: Your furniture arrangement—desks, beds, dining tables—will influence where lighting sources should go. Make sure to plan for this early in the process. Ideally, this planning should happen before construction begins. In our case, we started planning after the build had begun but made sure everything was in place before the plasterboard stage. With the right planning, you can create a beautifully lit home that enhances your space and meets your needs! Thank you for taking the time to read our post! We hope you enjoyed it.
