  • Hello, we’re KH & MS from @hwashan_, and we’re so glad you’re here with us! Hosting has always been one of our favorite things to do, whether it’s a quiet coffee chat or a big celebration with all our friends and family. Over the past year, we’ve learned a lot about making our space work for gatherings of all sizes, and we’re excited to share some tips and experiences with you. Whether you’re hosting 2, 4, 6, or more guests, we’ve got you covered :)
  • Hosting for 2: Small But Special When it’s just us or a friend over for coffee, our cozy corner becomes the heart of the home. It’s where we settle down on the floor sofa with a warm drink, a soft playlist in the background, and endless conversations. Sometimes, keeping things simple really is the best way to connect.
  • Tip: If you’re hosting for 2, comfort is key! Think warm lighting, a candle, and a cozy seat. Our corner floor setup is perfect for that.
  • Hosting for 4: Cozy Gatherings For slightly bigger get-togethers, our dining area takes center stage. Whether it’s brunch or dinner, we love keeping the vibe relaxed. The table is just right for four and what works for us: a dining setup that’s comfortable yet stylish; fresh flowers never hurt either!
  • Also, having the coffee & tea station nearby makes it easy to grab drinks without leaving the conversation.
  • What we've learned: Space planning is key. Having enough room for everyone to chat without feeling cramped makes all the difference.
  • Hosting for 6: Flexibility is Everything With six people, it’s time to get creative with the space and seating! There were occasions where we utilised our kitchen counterspace to lay out the food for our guests. Tip: Keep things flowing. Setting up different stations for drinks or snacks around the house helps avoid crowding in one spot. :)
  • Our extra dining bench also comes in handy when we need to move it around to fit everyone comfortably, and suddenly, the space feels perfect for a cozy dinner. Honestly, the more the merrier, right? Pro Tip: Don’t be afraid to mix and match seating! We’ve used the floor sofa, dining bench, and chairs all at once to make sure everyone’s comfy.
  • Hosting for 10 or More: The More, The Merrier! Now, for the big ones! When we host larger gatherings, the whole house gets involved. Our Castlery Sloane Dining Set can accommodate 10, but we’ve definitely gone beyond that. For groups of up to 22 (yes, we’ve done it!), we bring out our foldable 1.2m table and extra stools that we store in the bomb shelter. It’s a bit of a puzzle, but seeing everyone enjoy the space makes it worth it! What we’ve learned: Prepping in advance is a must. We mix home-cooked dishes with pre-prepared snacks to keep things easy.
  • After meals; time to Unwind Once dinner is done, it’s time to relax! Our TV room is where we kick back with a show or, on fun nights, some karaoke. The sofa’s super comfy, and it’s the perfect way to wind down and keep the evening going. After all, hosting doesn’t stop at dinner, right? Final Tips for New Homeowners If you’re just starting out in your new home and figuring out how to host, here are a few things that have worked for us: Flexible seating: Our extendable dining bench and foldable table have been game-changers. They make hosting for any number easy :) Create cozy zones: Whether it’s a coffee station or a cozy corner, having designated spaces for different activities helps guests feel at home.
  • At the end of the day, hosting is all about creating a warm, welcoming space where everyone feels at home. We’ve loved making memories in our little home, and we hope these tips help you do the same. What’s been your favorite hosting experience so far? Let's us know ✨
