Urban Oasis: A Plant-Filled Corridor with a Bicycle Rack 🌿🚲

Welcome to the corridor of our home! We’ve recently revamped our corridor a little and expanded some of our storage out to make more space in the living space. This was never really something we planned to do since we already delegated a space in our bombshelter to store our bicycles, but because we received a hand-me-down rack from my SIL, we decided to utilise it by our corridor.
We have a lot of plants in our balcony already. So, we had to expand and disperse some, especially these giants out to have more space to grow. The large monstera on the left has been in our bedroom for a while but haven’t really pushed out any new leaves. Eversince we left it out here, it has started to unfurl new leaves. These plant pot hangers are such lifesavers in mounting my plants up on the railing instead of the floor which frees up more space.
This is a rather unconventional way and location to store bicycles, but I believe that it’s been a lot better for us and our neighbours. We used to store them just on the floors by the corridor. We have noticed that it’s a little harder for workers to clean the floors, more risk to rust/damage, and kids banging into our bikes when they cycle along the corridor. We made sure that the rack was resting against the wall to make it safer and also had the handlebars folded in so that people don’t accidentally knock into them. We also of course locked each of our bikes onto the poles. These racks requires no drilling. It uses the extension rod sort of mechanism.
On the other side of the railing, we have a plant rack to store the plants that we migrated from our bedroom. As we have a long stretch of walkway on the right, we decided to utilise the space since nobody else was using it 😆
I personally don’t recommend this particular rack for a railing like ours because it’s tilted due to the circular shape of the railing. But this works well for our balcony railing which has a squarish shape.

We don’t have much here and plan to keep it this way. The main things we have here is our floor mat, bench, doorbell camera and a cctv. Our bench was something we have had for so long since we got married and have been well used as a tv console, dinning table, and now, a bench. We don’t really sit on it since we have our shoes inside, but it does come in handy for food deliveries to be placed on the bench instead of hanging on the door. The floor mat has functioned well although, if I had to purchase it again, I would choose a darker colour so that it wouldn’t look too stained/dirty like how ours looks like now even though we do clean it every few months.
Lastly, this is our latest home addition that I placed on my gas riser door. This is mainly to monitor my bicycles since our doorbell camera has no visibility to that area. I don’t think it’s necessary to have, but it gives me a peace of mind knowing that I have my bicycles and plants secured. Even if we live in a generally safe country, we can never be too careful. Overall, I enjoy coming home to this view first 😁 Im looking forward to be adding more plants and some deco on the walls to make it feel more cosy.
