  • Here we have our kitchen, an open concept one. And one where it is also a little different from the usual layout. We have the sink, facing the dining table in a T-format. This allows us to wash/rinse our hands or dishes while still being able to continue conversations with our guests.
  • We also opted not to have top hung cabinets, as we wanted to the open kitchen to look well..more open. We didn't want it to have a very heavy look and the added plus is that we got to save some money by building shelves instead of full cabinets. For this section, we emphasised on symmetry. So the chimney hood is in the middle of the space, with the induction cooker right below it, and then the oven also directly below. To continue with the symmetry, we asked our ID to build in 2 pull out condiment drawers, which are really convenient for cooking.
  • We find that this kitchen layout is very easy and convenient as it abides by the triangle rule. That is, the 3 main areas in your kitchen - The sink, fridge and stove should be in a triangular layout.
  • We also bought lots of organisers for the plates, bowls, pots and pans in our kitchen. I really dislike stacking of plates and bowls, as it is always such a hassle when you want to reach for the larger plate that is at the bottom, and having to lift all the other plates and bowls above it. So this system, is super neat and makes things easier to pick and keep.
  • The final thing that is an absolute lifesaver for us, is a Dishwasher! We got the LG Steam Dishwasher, and it has helped us to cut down on time washing oily dishes and frankly because of the steam and heat, i feel that our dishes are cleaner. Which is great, for times like now (ahem..Cov19).
