  • Our master bedroom, where we unwind, rest and relax but sometimes where we do some work at the study table. We decided to go for white, gold and a grey feature wall with wainscoting. Not only here, but we think that lighting plays an important part in every corner of the home. It is important to understand the different types of lighting and what it does – general light, task light and mood light. In a bedroom setting, it is important to have mood light so that it is able to create the ambiance especially when it is a place for us to wind down. To add on to the comfy and relaxing mood and ambiance, bed dressing also plays a vital role. Besides the pillow, you can add layers of cushions with different textures and patterns. Top it off with throw or blanket.
  • Opposite our bed is where our study table is. If we are not mistaken, the table that we got from IKEA is actually a dressing table. We love the form of the product and we feel that it fits well with the look and feel that we want to achieve. The knobs came in silver but we changed it to gold instead. To compliment the table, we got a swivel chair that is not of the typical look with high back rest.
  • We did a build-in wardrobe at our previous home, therefore we decided to get a solitaire wardrobe that can be combined in various ways as according to your needs. We got ours from IKEA and it is pretty easy and straightforward to plan your own wardrobe with their online planner. All you need to prepare is to understand your wants and needs in terms of storage for your clothes. Understanding your habits and how you live are important too. Here, you can have a mixture of closed storage or glass doors to showcase your handbags. You can also have a choice of using hinge doors or sliding doors. Of course, sliding doors help you to save space but we chose hinge doors since we have the space and we want to achieve the traditional look.

  • As mentioned earlier, we went for wainscoting since we want the traditional and classical look. Initially we went for green but decided to ditch it as we felt that grey will be a more neutral colour for the room. To compliment it, we bought our gold pendant lamps for our bedside table online. We chose this slim design so that it doesn’t take much attention away from the wainscoting wall.
  • Details are important to us. We saw some lovely switches from some websites but they cost a bomb! We knew that we want this type of switches as we understand that small little details like this make a lot of difference. It adds character to the room. We went online to search for cheaper alternatives. Platforms like Taobao, AliExpress, Shopee etc. offer plenty of choices. We went for gold with our master bedroom and black for the other parts of the home.
