Hello! I am gonna talk about all the best home investments we purchased and how it eased our maintenance of the house, also some decided during the reno or before the reno process! This is our Dreame L20 Ultra robot. They have a X40 now but previously my husband bought this because he thought this is enough and the most value for money during a shopee sale. A relationship saver and it cleans our house every night after our baby is asleep because we do not want a baby running around and pressing on its buttons and returning it to its base unintentionally. During reno, we were asked if we want a cement base for the kitchen sink and we were soooooo glad that we went ahead for it! They tiled it up externally and internally with our floor porcelain tiles which are white. This prevents the carpentry to be wet with water and any mould from growing inside, we placed our dustbin inside as well and any dirty stains around the bin can be wiped off easily as compared to if this is only a carpentry. The dust bin inside is useful for when we throw away any food waste after cooking and washing in the sink and it is out of sight for aesthetic purposes. Well, Due to some mishap, we accidentally got ourselves a 'flush-mount' sink in an unconventional way. This sink isn't meant to be flush-mounted I guess because you need to purchase a special sink that is actually a 'flush-mount'. It means it's levelled with the sintered stone counter top and benefits includes like there's no mould underneath the sintered stone to clean if it is a undermount and you can still easily sweep the surrounding food waste and water into the sink unlike a top-mounted sink. Flush-mount sink requires the sintered stone cutter to precisely cut the EXACT measurements of the sink and still allow it to sit nicely flat and levelled with the sintered stone. Anyways, for ours, it is level with the sintered stone and then the sides are tiled up with our trusty floor porcelain tiles with a white epoxy grout line! That's how we got our 'flush-mount' sink! Why say we got it accidentally? erm we realise it can only be under-mount and not top-mount which I originally wanted after the kitchen cement base is done up for the sink. So we decided to tile the sides and do not do any sintered stone over it. Let's talk about another big investment! Tiling and Epoxy grouting our whole house including the bathrooms!! My husband is a firm believer of tiles over vinyl but I think there are nice vinyl out there that does not 'pop' easily after years of walking on them. This is a picture of the grouting in our bedroom with tiles. Epoxy grouting can be white as shown in my kitchen sink photo, or any other colour that you can choose which is closest to the colours of your tiles. This reduces the sight of the grout lines especially in our living room where both the tiles and grout lines are white! It is more obvious in the bedrooms but it still looks pleasing! Most importantly, it does not stain and becomes BLACK overtime! You need to just clean the mould off if any and it comes off easily as these epoxy grout lines are non-porous like the traditional cement grouting! It also does not need any maintenanace unlike marble gumming! WHY I think every household should have a water dispenser! Love it! But you need to decide before reno starts, make a hold in the kitchen cement base for the water inlet (in my case) and then drill a tiny hole in the sintered stone behind for the water piping to pass through during installation. First, you can get cold water instantly, duh ..? No need for funny ice dispenser in the fridge (which my husband say he needed at first).. I also make ice in the fridge myself regularly actually. Second, you can get hot water easily for your morning coffee fix in an instant without boiling water! Third, if you have a HANGRY baby crying for milk. That 3 minutes of boiling water with a kettle is actually a LONG WAIT. We had a thermal flask at my mum's place before moving and experienced the pain. I press for HOT Water from the flask just to realise that it is finished and not filled up with MORE hot water, had to boil, baby crying, haha! Cannot microwave the breastmilk or powder milk cause it will breakdown all the good nutrients that is inside. You need a hot water in a cup and put the bottle of breastmilk into it to warm it up if you froze them as well. Tips for the future if you're planning to have kids! :) My husband so proud to get these grohe fittings, hansgrohe is good too. Anyways, he say the water marks on these can be cleaned easily and easy to maintain. He also do not want any dark coloured shower set that can fade off overtime and possibly peel off. Thanks for reading and these are all our best home investment(s)! What's yours?
