  • Today we start with a little look into our kitchen from the yard — where clean lines, warm walnut, and practical details come together. Our kitchen follows a '11' format - could be a little bit squeezy but again we had to make do with limited space. After staying here for a year, we're glad we went ahead with this design - generous countertop space with everything we need embedded. Convenient, and according to fengshui requirement :D Also there’s something grounding about intentional design. Every shelf, drawer, and finish was chosen not just to look good, but to support how we live.
  • Today, one of my two focuses is this hidden nook: our human-and-pet snack & food cabinet. The cabinet around the fridge has mainly a grey matte finish - a complement to our woody-themed living room. It blends right in — looking sleek and functional. PS. idk why but this looks so small in this picture! it definitely is larger in real life
  • This is the 'before' look of the pet snack + hubby's alcohol corner.
  • And this is the after! Bought some little walnut wood tray, drawer and key holder to improve the look for this corner. Now, the alcohols are on the left side and pet snacks and supplements are on the right. You might ask, why the key holder? It is his little dental stuffs corner! The one hanging is the teeth finger cloth, along with a toothbrush resting on it and toothpaste at the bottom. And yes - the little weighing machine is there to restraint me from giving him a little too much treats.
  • On top of it is our human snack pull-down tray! This is such a good addition for my 1.53m height. A must get for vertically challenged peeps!
  • This is another one above the stove area for less-used condiments and canned food. Fixing these pull-trays require quite a bit of space. And if you can tell, the volume it can carry is quite limited. So out of 5 top cabinet areas, we only implement in 2 of them. the rest are normal shelves. But we made sure to let the carpenter know to make the shelves removable. So if we need less storage and more pull down tray in future, we can easily implement them. But anyway only 1 can be changed. Because for the other 2 - one is above microwave and another is right above the hood. Won't be able to fix in the pull-down tray anyway! Also - spot the little kitchen towel holder behind! It is nicely tucked behind the cabinet door when closed, allowing our kitchen to be extra neat. It's a great placement!
  • Also another one I am so glad to have insisted to include - a pull out tray between microwave and oven! I prepare my little one's meal here, our own meal when taking in and out of the microwave, taking stuffs out of the fridge, etc. A real good addition especially we do not have countertop in the immediate area around here. When not in used, it is nicely tucked in. Blum mechanism is used here - super smooth super easy to use.
  • And.. we are back here in the snack cabinet! At the bottom of the pet snack and alcohol corner we have 4 trays inside a huge cabinet door - 2 trays for human supplements, medications, tissue packets for going out; 2 trays that house pet snacks, supplements, food, wet wipes, etc. Also a super useful carpentry design - I can have a bird's eye view of everything we have, easily accessible, high volume storage (as compared to individual drawers).
