  • Welcome to the farmhouse bathroom! We did an entire overhaul of the bathroom because it was a 20 year old unit and we were not sure if the waterproofing was still good. Changed to water tank heater and the size of the windows (leading to the kitchen), and re-tiled everything. Scroll down to see the renovation process. Pictured here is our common bathroom. P.S. long post ahead as we've got 2 bathrooms to cover!
  • While choosing our tiles, we kept to the same white textured tiles as our kitchen for consistency, but mixed with the wooden tiles to split between the wet and dry areas. For the windows, as it was not part of the main building fixture, we were given free reign to change the shape and we did... into a circle :) The original windows were large and long, but we thought it was unnecessary since the "air" will be going into our knocked down kitchen, if you know what I mean 😮‍💨🫣
  • For the common bathroom, we also opted for a half screen since it's not going to be the main bathroom we'll be using. However after 3 years, we felt that we could do with a full screen as well as our guests sometimes shower here and we prefer to keep the wet and dry areas separate. We also kept the shower area in a generic black colour since it matches the window and the focus would be on the "feature wall" with my wooden tiles and open shelvings.
  • And when it comes to buying our first toilet bowls in our lives (lol I do think it's pretty dramatic), we bought different toilet bowls to test the difference of having a bidet installed on the toilet seat. We have this in our guest bathroom - it's manual (digital is too expensive and not allowed in HDB) but it works so well, instead of using the side spray! Best buy to be honest, and our guests loved it 😛
  • For the open shelvings, they're really mainly meant for decorations to soften the bathroom aesthetics, which I love. We however keep the additional toilet roll, lotion and poo-poo drops here for ease of access. Otherwise, the rest of the items are placed in the drawers below the sink.
  • For a lack of a better picture, this is a full view of the common bathroom. A wooden ladder rack was probably one of my must-haves when I was designing the house as it looked classic and good anywhere. It also serves as a hanger for guests' towels, and a drying holder when washing toilets haha!
  • And what's a classic farmhouse design with a barn door 😭 We had requested a wooden barn door as there's a lot of designs these days that are more modernised, but we really want that wood texture. It also adds as our key feature along our white corridor.
  • And a look from the other side with better lighting! We love how the wooden details come together :)
  • And leading to our master bathroom... we used another textured wooden door with the usual opening since there's no space for a sliding barn door.
  • For the master bathroom, as it's heavily used everyday, it was done in a similar design but more practical. We had a french mirror with a round sink, along with a push up tap (much easier than the industrial/ farm style knob turns in our common bathroom). We used the same wooden planks, keeping to minimal decor, but put all our daily essentials there. Our dirty laundry, perfumes, creams, and even my portable waterproof speakers! I love to shower with background music with warm light, best way to unwind after a long day. If you are doing lighting, we highly recommend having a warm light option! It's also better when you get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and not be blinded by white light haha. A phone holder is also a must, and we've placed it strategically below our hand towel. I used it when I'm playing my music (bluetooth connection), or I can watch my TikTok on auto-scroll while brushing my teeth in the morning (yes I'm always doing something more than the action of cleaning up haha).
  • For the shower, we added a rainshower option as opposed to our guest bathroom. We both grew up without one, so this was a very exciting addition... until we realise that the water pressure is not something we can control within HDB. 😭🤡 It's not bad honestly, but definitely not hotel standard 😮‍💨 As we use transparent bathroom screens, the screen cleaner is very essential for post-shower so you don't get those watermark stains! P.S. we know our eucalyptus is due for a change 🤣
  • Also adding on some of our favourite items in the shower: this Ikea holder. We like to keep our facial washes here cos they usually leak a lot water from the bottom so this holder has holes to drain out water from below instead of collecting them. P.S. you see a running theme of pink because it's my favourite colour, which obviously doesn't fit the farmhouse theme, but once there are elements that match, that's when I know they fit i.e. this daiso basket that acts as a dirty laundry basket has crate-like details (I know it's a bit hard to see haha).
  • And... I'm ending this very long post with my favourite toilet roll addition. Yes I love pink and hello kitty haha! It's another suction on our shower screen and it works so well and we could adjust it to our comfort level. Let me know if you have any toilet related questions because to be honest I think toilets are sacred places that deserve to be invested in for your own personal needs ;)
