  • Last post to wrap up our @huangyoushijie house series :) If you've followed along with our posts, you'd realise our house is full of decorations. People hate or love it, but I like how all these soft furnishings add meaning to our home to make it truly unique and ours to own. Most of our collection are from our travels; it could be really small things like a pine cone from the mountains of Liechtenstein, a diffuser in the shape of a farmhouse (!) from Edinburgh, or just a vintage postcard from Paris. I also love re-using packagings that make sense like the Zara x Jo Malone cities collection.
  • Right next to my open shelf is this Kmart haul from Australia (I love Kmart so much!) that we bought even before the house was done. We immediately found a sweet spot to drill a nail in because I was pretty sure it's going to be there as a permanent spot, and I was right! It goes through thematic changes, especially during Christmas where I hang up all the vintage Christmas postcards, which you'll see below. This current decoration features a handmade calendar from Nepal and a llama soft toy from Liechtenstein 🦙
  • For more context, this image was taken between Christmas and CNY hence the bamboo plant as well 😂🤡
  • I didn't feature much of our "spare" room because it's really a mess from our travels that I have no idea how to properly categorise and store them, but the vinyl cabinet is my favourite part in the room. I have a habit of thrifting vinyls from overseas, especially Europe because they're really cheap (like 1 euros), and it has become a mini collection. The good thing about this cabinet is that it allows me to "feature" some of them as part of the decoration, and it really like how it looks! My most recent thrift from was The Beatles from Kobe, Japan! Also, for a lack of a better space, we also put the storage boxes like camera dry boxes beside this haha.
  • Moving to the study, here's the most updated image of this little corner, which is now filled with even more photo frames 😂 Like I mentioned above, I love collecting random things that reminds me of specific moments of our travels, hence the multiple frames that collects different memories: 1) Our Antarctica plunge certificates 2) An unused seasickness bag from the cruise (because I actually used it while being tormented on the drake passage) 3) A map of Australia because we've gone to this country multiple times together, including our university graduation trip! 4) Small frames with postcard collections across Buenos Aires, Nagasaki and Seoul
  • Also another close look to one of our open shelves, it's my personal notebook collection! I collect them since I was in school as I'm very much a pen and paper kinda gurlie, and still is. I journal, write my packing lists, and sometimes do scrapbooking, so these are all collected around the world. The coolest one I've gotten is the thick brown one that is actually a book cover, and the bookstore re-purpose old book covers into empty notebooks! I got this from Blackwell Bookshop in Oxford 🇬🇧
  • Somewhere along our corridor, we have a little stand with my fern that turned from green to brown, but somehow never dies? 🤣 So instead of tossing it out, it's now just left in this area and supporting a little touristy sign from Monkey Mia of Western Australia. I think it's a vibe, and it fits our house theme perfectly haha! P.S. please ignore the dust 😮‍💨😭
  • And into our master bedroom, this might be less shown but it's also one of my favourite areas just because I feel like we made full use of the ugly aircon trunking 😛 Again, more frames of different types, with postcards collected from different places: Italy, Shanghai & Laos.
  • F i n a l l y, welcome to my wall of fame (or should I say, door of fame?). There are potentially many ideas out there on how to "hide" or beautify your bomb shelter, but after pondering for a long time with our ID, I've decided to keep it clean since the door is the same colour as our wall. And bit by bit, we filled it with all the postcards and magnets from our travels (and some from my friends). I've never been a magnet collector all my life, and plus my refrigerator is actually not magnetic (haha), so this became that wall. I love how it grows and now it's almost filled up after 3.5 years of living here. We've done a lot of travelling post-Covid, and this collection really started then. And of course, my biggest badge of honour is stepping into all 7 continents as of July 2023, and I'm so happy to have this to look at day in day out when I enter/ leave my home.
