Hey everyone! We will be sharing our kitchen organisation tips in this post, with many ideas on how to organise your kitchen without purchasing organisers as much as possible ✨ We believe that upcycling is the way to go, especially when it comes to the highly raved topic of home organisation. It sparks so much much for us to see our little efforts of using less for more each time we open our cabinets and drawers. We hope this post inspires you to do the same! 💖 Let’s begin with this side of the kitchen, where most of the cooking and washing happens! We keep things functional and minimal at our sink area. Our dishwashing mesh is hung on the side of our sink, while our stainless scrubber and sink scrubbing brush are hung such that water can drip directly into the sink without getting onto the countertop. We also strategically placed our hand towel near the sink so that we will minimise dripping from our wet hands. Here’s our under-sink cabinet! The bottles on the left corner are all emptied and waiting to be upcycled/recycled. We use the 1.5L mineral water bottle (golden cap) to drain our washing machine’s pipe. The 2 blue-capped canisters (repurposed from wet wipes canisters) contain our sink nets. We placed them under our sink so that it’s easy to reach for them for replacement. We store our kitchen stool here for easy access. We are currently trying to work on reducing our cleaning supplies. As we have only moved in a few months ago, we are still trying our best to finish these initial bottles before switching to multi-purpose ones. The aim is for things in this cabinet to take up less space over time 😆 There is a slim cabinet next to our dish rack where we store our bottles and tumblers. Our condiments rack sits directly below. We try our best to store our spices and condiments in their original packaging so that we can keep track of their expiry dates etc without having to label them separately :) Moving on to the cabinet above our hood! We store our unused cups and cooking oil here. The cups are near the sink, making it easy to rinse before we/our guests use them. The cooking oil is stored here for each reach when cooking. Right below our induction hob is where we store our chopping board, non-stick cookware set, electric pot, pot lid holder, steaming rack, and cookware click handles. Our chopping board from Dwellogi is designed for chopping vegetables and fruits on one side and meat on the other, so one chopping board is all we need! The Modori cookware set is truly a space-saver with its stackable design! The SimPlus electric pot comes in very handy whenever we need a third stove or when we want to steam small items. If you noticed, we repurposed milk cartons to store our pot lid holder and steaming rack. We also used the original cardboard box that came with the Modori click handles to store the handles in our drawer. All we did was cut a hole on one of the longitudinal sides :) P.S. Milk cartons make really good drawer organisers! On the bottom drawer, we have our stainless steel cookware, which includes: 1. 18cm pan, 28cm pan and 30cm wokpan from WMF 2. Stainless steel splatter guard from Edelkochen 3. Stainless steel colander from Iuiga 4. Salad spinner from OXO Right above our water dispenser sits our alcohol stash and some medicine/supplements. It is a running joke that the bottom shelf is your cure after drinking from the top shelf after one of our guests pointed out the irony 🤣 Over here, we repurposed a ginger tea box to store our cork coasters and a luncheon meat box to become a bottle opener holder :) Inside one of the bottom drawers, you can find our knives (& knife sharpener), can opener, grater, whisk, funnels, garlic minced and tooth picks. Once again, we made use of drink cartons to create compartments in our drawer for grouping of similar-category items :) Right below our water dispenser, we store all our sachet drinks. We use existing boxes that the sachets comes in to organise our drinks, which works perfectly for us as we are able to easily switch them up whenever the drinks stash increases or decreases :) We decided to house the sachet drinks right below our water dispenser because it makes the process of making a cup of drink flow better: choose a drink > pour/place them in our cup > dispenser water and we’ve got our choice of drink ready! ✨ The bottom drawer is currently empty so we’ll skip that! We upcycled a 1.5L water bottle to hold our The Good Maison cooking tools. It’s not only eco & wallet friendly, but we get to admire the entirety of their beauty because of the bottle’s transparency! 🤩 Let’s move on to the other side of the kitchen, where our peninsula & “dry kitchen” are :) The HipVan tote bag has been repurposed to store our bread and any items that we need to visually remind ourselves to finish soon. Otherwise, they risk being forgotten when placed in the cabinets! The brown paper bag contains our onions 🧅 Again, we’re trying our best to use what we have here 😊 Let’s check out what’s in the cabinets under our peninsula! Inside the left cabinet, we have some containers waiting to be upcycled, as well as a cardboard box containing our stash of trash bags. Our dustbin actually sits right in front of this cabinet as well, so this makes it very easy to grab a bag to fill the bin. The middle shelf houses: 1. Reusable table cloths that we use when hosting 2. Table mats that we use during meals when it’s just the 2 of us The other cabinet houses our packet drinks & rice. We’re so glad to have these cabinets to store our packet drinks because they make restocking our fridge a breeze since they are near our fridge! Moving on to the top cabinets in the “dry kitchen”, we store our dry goods, snacks, and breakfast items like cereal and spreads here. We usually make our breakfast on this side of the countertop, so the entire flow of grabbing the food items and preparing them works well for us too! We repurposed biscuit boxes and cardboard boxes, as well as DIY-ed cardboard paper trays to organise this area :) We try to store less healthy food (e.g. instant noodles) on the upper shelves to create more inertia to reach for them as a way to prevent ourselves from eating them too much 🫢 The smaller top shelf contains some canned food items as well as some unhealthier snacks hahaha. We decided to separate them because we access the larger cabinet rather frequently, and it will be dangerous if the unhealthy snacks are always in our face 🤣 We store our plates, bowls and saucers in the top drawer here. It’s a very minimal collection right now so there’s not special organising required :) On the bottom drawer, we have a magic cooker and portable gas stove. When we do have more appliances in future, this is where they will go too. P.S. If you prefer to store appliances in drawers instead of cabinets like us, remember to cater for deep drawers to fit taller appliances! This drawer houses out cutleries. They are sitting inside the complimentary cutlery tray that our carpenter made for us :) The cutlery drawer is an inner drawer within a larger drawer. The larger drawer contains our air fryer paper (👀 We’re using drink cartons as storage here too), aluminium foil, cling wrap, ziplock bags, silicone wraps, and mittens. The bottom drawer is where we store all our containers, reusable ziplock bags, and lunch box bags! And finally, the cabinet above our fridge houses some herbal liquor that we drink for health reasons! That’s all for our kitchen organisation tips! We hope you’ve learnt a useful thing or two through this post 🥰✨
