  • Renovating our home was an exciting journey, but like many homeowners, there are always a few things we look back on and think, "Hmm, maybe we should’ve done that differently." Here are some of our key learnings and small regrets:
  • 1) Reducing Vanity Table Depth Due to Short-Sightedness Being short-sighted means I often have to lean in close to the mirror for tasks like applying makeup or skincare, and the depth of the vanity made that a little difficult.
  • To counter this, I ended up purchasing a small table mirror that allows me to bring the mirror closer when needed.
  • **Not Installing a Fan at the Vanity Table** 2. One thing I wish we had done was install a fan near the vanity table. It gets quite warm, especially when I’m spending time on long hair routines, and it can feel stuffy. We rely on this portable fan or we’d shift our standing fan over, which is a bit of a hassle. Having a wall-mounted fan would have made getting ready much more comfortable.
  • **Exposed Storage Water Heater** 3. We left our storage water heater exposed in the kitchen, and while it functions perfectly, it does stick out in an otherwise clean design. A built-in cover or cabinet to conceal it would have given the kitchen a more seamless and polished look. It’s a minor visual regret but something that would’ve added to the overall aesthetic.
  • **Missing Out on Extra Countertop with Storage** We didn’t fully maximize the available space in the kitchen. Looking back, we could have added an extra countertop with storage on the other side, which would have given us much-needed space for both prepping meals and storing kitchen essentials. We currently have this open shelves which have been serving us well.
  • Looking back, these are small but valuable lessons we learned from our home renovation experience. If you’re planning a renovation, hopefully, these insights can help you avoid similar regrets!
