House Hunting: We found THE ONE 35 units later!

Hi 👋🏻 we are here to share about our house-hunting journey! After our BTO flat reached MOP (minimum occupation period) last year, we started our search for a new home, as we wanted to upgrade from a 3 room to 4 room flat with more space.

35 resale unit viewings later, we finally found this house that we really liked! Not because of the condition that it was in, but because of its close proximity to several amenities such as the MRT station, shopping mall and healthcare facilities (all within 5 mins walk). It is also a high-floor, corner unit with a reasonable COV (cash over valuation) within our budget. However, if we were to single out the most important criteria for our search, it would be that there must not be a rubbish chute in the house!! Because we are super scared of xiao qiang 😣

That being said, we knew a major renovation was needed, as the house is really old and the design wasn’t to our liking. So we did an overhaul, including rewiring of the entire house and hacking of the granite floorings (our pockets cried but it was worth it 🥲)

We love Japan and wanted to bring a little of Japan into our home, so we incorporated Shōji doors and wooden elements into our design 🇯🇵
