  • Hi! We are back for Season 8 starting with our house tour! We have recently completed renovations and moved in on New Year’s Day. This is our kitchen with an island in the middle and pantry area on the right (yes it’s already filled with snacks :p)
  • Closer look at our kitchen! For our island height we went for 950mm as we felt that the standard 1.1-1.2m is too tall for us. We are planning to prep food here and we felt that 950mm was the ideal height for us while still keeping the ‘bar look’. We also installed a pendant light that has a cooler tone so that it acts as an ‘office space’ as well when we want to do some work/study on the 1st floor One of the small highlights of our island is the installation of power track recessed on the countertop itself. Chose sintered stone for our counter tops and we love the marble look. Used the same design for our backsplash and we like how it 'pops out' against our dark laminates.
  • We opt for a sliding door as though we love an open concept kitchen, we would still like to have the option of keep it close sometimes 1) less cooking fumes 2) safer for pets Also love how it’s synchronised so that we are able to use minimal strength to open and close the glass door as and when we want to
  • We have decided to keep the original marble flooring from the previous owner as it was still in pristine condition we didn't want to break our reno budget. Decided to polish the marble flooring right before moving in and it looks as good as new. Minimal built ins in the living room as we like the option of shifting things around in the future. We diy-ed the feature wall using muted mercury paint from raffles point and we loved it! Spent a few days painting but it was therapeutic and a fun bonding activity (: Our tv console and coffee table is from Taobao. We chose a dark wood laminate to match with our kitchen theme.
  • Same as the living room, we kept our entrance way minimal with no built ins for the same reason
  • 1st floor bathroom. If you have seen our previous sketch ups, we wanted something different for our guest toilet and we decided on terrazzo tiles. Vanity and mirror is from Taobao. Installed an instant heater here so that we can shower our senior doggo on the first floor
  • Master bathroom Wanted a dark theme for our toilet for the moody vibes thus went for dark wall tiles and black pd door. Opted for 2 warm spot lights for the cosy ambience while still being bright enough for daily use
  • Walkway This is our walkway to the common toilet and entertainment’s room. Installed a pet door for our senior poodle and we were pleasantly surprised on how fast he has learned to use the pet door! Love the warm tones of the spot lights against the black doors.
  • Lines and blinds Went with Venetian blinds for our study and entertainment room and we love how the horizontal lines matches with our vertical stairway railings. The blinds helped to block out harsh sunlight during the day while still getting some ventilation.
  • We were contemplating between zip tracks and windows for the higher windows as the ones the previous owner had was roller shutters that had broke down. We came to realise zip tracks is not a good idea as we stayed on high floor and the wind may potentially spoil our zip track in the long run so windows it is! The windows allow natural lighting to come in during the day which allows some to save some electricity bill. Opted for the LG washer and dryer combination not only because of how sleek it looks but having a dryer has really been a game changer in terms of our household chores routine
  • Similar as our living room we have minimal built ins in our master bedroom other than our wardrobe. We choose a lighter micro cement texture laminate for our wardrobe and cove lighting for a warm and softer look. Can you spot the double curved intent? (:
  • Recreation room We swap our master bedroom with our recreation room as it gives us more freedom for space planning in the future.
  • Study room! That’s all for our house tour! We are excited to be back for this season and can't wait to share the rest of the house in the subsequent posts. Do keep a look out on our ig mentionat_west for more home and reno content (:
