  • Hello, on the menu today is our kitchen tour! This is probably the area of the house that chalked up the largest renovation cost but we spend the least time in (thanks to our helper cooking for us). This is a U shaped kitchen with fairly ample space for food prep and for bustling around. We don't have a lot of kitchen appliances too cos meals are cooked old school and simply. Heck we don't even have an oven! Some might say it's madness to have white cabinets in the kitchen, especially at the base where there's more chance of encountering sauces and stains. But 5 months in and happy to say that things still seem fine! Of course, a weekly wipedown with Cif plays a big part 😅
  • Panning to the other side of our kitchen. The LED lights below the cupboards add a warm glow and are great when getting a midnight drink from the kitchen.
  • Pivoting 180 and here's the fridge and tall cabinet. Unopened, the cabinet is very demure, very mindful (🤣). Open it and you'll find the microwave and also a panel that can be pulled out for extra surface area.
  • If you have an L shaped cabinet, here's an idea for you. Instead of spending a bomb on pull-out mechanisms, just get your carpenter to make your cupboard doors open outwards like this. You'll then have a clear view of what's in the cupboard and have no issues reaching into the deep corners to get stuff or clean it!
  • Here's our kitchen tap and sink. It is so important to have your tap lever face outwards instead of inside at the countertop area. This is so that your dripping wet hands will not cause a small flood on your countertop, which is unsightly and leads to mold issues. As an added precaution, we got this Franke sink that has an in built surface for mounting the tap!
  • We have windows in the kitchen but to make the cooking experience more pleasant, we installed a corner fan as well. Plus points that it comes in the same color as our kitchen! Our countertop and backsplash are in the same quartz material for consistency and ease of maintenance.
  • To keep out the smells, we made a glass sliding door that can be closed when cooking is going on but still maintains the openness of the house. The smooth closing mechanism is such a dream! We've come to the end of our kitchen tour! Thanks for reading and looking forward to seeing you at our next tour!
