  • Hello again everyone and welcome to our next post!🫶🏻 In today’s post, we’ll be talking about how we use lighting to create a warm and cosy home. Let’s start!🤩✨
  • We have one rule in this house: Don’t use the big lights!🙅🏻‍♀️🙅🏻 Unless of course your big lights uses warm light bulbs of about 3000K or lower.🤭 Anything above that would be too harsh and will make your home feel like the waiting room at an atas hospital, stale and cold.
  • For us, we did not get professional help like an ID to plan the lighting in our home. Instead we decided to layer lighting by adding ambient lights in the form of lamps and sconces.
  • These are the many lamps, some are portable while some are not, that we have lying around the many areas of our home. It’s become quite an obsession and there’s no such thing as having too many lamps.😜 Seeing the warm glowing layers at night really helps to make our home cosier and relaxes us after a long day at work. I make it a point to turn them all on close to dusk. Some of them have the Phillips Smart WiFi LED bulb that can be controlled using the WIZ app. They can be set to turn on and off at specific timings, so we’ve set them to turn on daily at 6.30pm and switch off at 11.30pm. For those that are portable or incompatible with the smart bulb, I’ll turn them on myself hahaha.
  • We have 2 huge burger ceiling lights in our bedroom but we never use those because they’re blindingly white. So instead of changing them, I’ve added these lamps to act as reading lights and also to bathe our bedroom with nice warm cosy lighting. This makes the bed more inviting (too inviting sometimes hahaha). Making the bed with matching sheets and throw pillows help too!😉 I’ve also placed a cheap standing Ikea lamp (hidden from view) behind our arched mirror to act as an accent light without having to install anything. It also doubles as an anchor to tie our arch mirror to so it doesn’t topple over when our fur babies have sudden zoomies and dash behind the mirror. We’ve lost countless mirrors at this spot so we’ve learnt from past experiences haha.🥲 Happy to report that this combo or hidden lamp and mirror is doing very well for a few years now!👍🏻
  • This wall didn’t have any electrical points so we could not install any lights. This could be an issue that some of you home owners might face as well after living in your home for a while and things shift around due to lifestyle changes and what not. To light up this wall art, I got a rechargeable LED wall lamp which comes with 3M tape. All you need to do is to follow the instructions and stick it wherever you like. Comes in white, warm white and very warm white, and also 3 brightness! Once the battery is flat, just plug out the lamp and charge with a wire and plug it back to the wall (it’s magnetic). We have 3 at different spots around the house hehe. Very mindful, very cutesy!😍
  • Ikea is also another place to get really cheap lighting if you can’t go to JB or don’t know where to go to look for lights in JB. We always treat every trip to Ikea like a date and adventure because you never know what gems you’ll find.😆 Found this ceiling spotlight and it goes perfectly in our entryway because we can point the lights at different spots to illuminate them.
  • Used to have an ugly burger light here too but we changed it to a hanging rattan pendant light. It is a little hard to clean and dust so might want to think of that before getting one hahaha. But it goes with the home theme so it’s worth all the effort to dust it.🥹👍🏻
  • And finally our 2 lamps in our living space.😌 Our ceiling fan actually comes with a light function in 3 colours but we find it to be too bright for our liking. So we’ve never used it and these lamps are more than enough to light up our small living room space. We turn them on during the day as well for the cosy vibes!🌚🌝
  • We use candles to add on to the mood as well. They add that extra layer of cosy and makes the house smell awesome too!🥹
  • Takes effort to light every single one of the candles but worth the effort when everything is lit (literally hahaha!). I have a mixture of tea light candles, scented candles without holders, and also scented candles with holders so that we have the flexibility to place them everywhere. Definitely ups the cosy ambience especially on a cool rainy stay home day.😌❤️
  • And that’s all we have for this post! Thanks for reading and see you on the next one!✨
  • Bonus pic of fur babies in their Halloween costumes for this year hahaha. Cai Tou is a honeybee and Cai Png is a flower.🐝🌸🌺 Happy Halloween everyone!👻
