Welcome to thewanggong :) Featuring our 24-year-old, 5-room HDB resale flat in the central area. We knew from the start that we wanted a resale flat as space was an important factor for us during the house-hunting phase. Upon seeing the layout of the unit, we fell in love with it as there is a lot of potential to recreate the space into our dream home.Most importantly, it ticked most of the boxes on our checklist : 1. Location / Distance to work This was the top priority for us. We know how tiring work can be most of the time. Thus we both agree that we shouldnt be spending too much time getting to and from work. We understand that over the years, our job location may change, but as of now, this location is perfect for us. 2. Min 1200sft Wife's wishes - a walk-in wardrobe, a dry kitchen, and a room for art Husband's hobby - huge fish tank and an area for his plant babies I think with that, we need no explanation on why we need a big space lol 3. Age of the flat We wanted to stay long enough to make our renovation cost worthwhile, but yet when we decide to sell the flat, it is not too old to be sold. 4. Convenient to eateries, childcare and primary school No one will say no to convenience. Being able to get food and groceries nearby will always be a plus point. As for school, we wanted to do forward planning for the future. 
The original layout of the unit allowed us to hack down walls which encouraged the creativity in us to flow. We reduced the size of the common room as they were too longish & rebuilt a larger master bedroom with the wife's dream walk-in wardrobe. We also managed to incorporate a dry kitchen & an area for the husband to chill with his fish. Happy wife, happy husband, happy life. :) Pintrest and Xiao Hong Shu was and is still our best friend to date as we brainstormed on the theme of our home. We were lucky that we both love a bright, calm, and cozy space to aid in winding down at the end of the day. Therefore, our theme came very naturally - wood element, white & gold. 
As we enter the house, we are greeted by our entryway that serves as a shoe cabinet, an area for us to place our keys, wallets, etc., and a settee. 
We built a wall to maintain privacy and segregate our entryway from the living area. We wanted it to be a statement piece as we enter the house. We added a fluted panel and an arch entry to complement the overall design. The centerpiece of the house features our dry kitchen with a long dining island where friends and family gather. A convenient place for us to make our morning coffee with our Wells dispenser, air fry our favorite food, and make delicious bakes. Conveniently tucked above the oven is our microwave where we can easily heat up food. This is where the chef of the house cooks all the delicious food. Our aesthetically pleasing and huge fridge allows us to store a large amount of food while hosting our family and friends. The arch was designed to conceal the bulky water pipes while maintaining the aesthetic. The cozy corner of the house where we gather to watch TV and chit-chat. Our L-shaped sofa allows us to laze around comfortably. We chose Samsung the frame for its beautiful outlook. During our search for home ideas, we came across the concept of a concealed door and very much like the idea. Hence, we make it happen in our home. Make a guess what are behind these doors? 😂 
We wanted a dedicated space where we can do our skin care and blow our hair. As we have sufficient space, we decided on a 2 seater dresser so we could spend time together while winding down after a good shower. The wife's dream walk-in wardrobe with bags and accessories display and lots of wardrobe space. 😍 Our glass top island features our accessories, watches, and sunglasses. The Taobao island blend in so perfectly with our carpentry that it looks like it is locally fabricated. The husband always wanted a platform bed. When he saw this at Castlery, he immediately knew that this would be our bedframe. When we were choosing our mattress, we were considering Woosa as it was highly raved.
