One aspect that we would redo for our toilets

  • Hello, we are KH & MS from @hwashan_, and we’re so glad you’re spending some time with us here! Our home is our little sanctuary, and we’ve loved every step of bringing it to life.
  • Today, we wanted to chat about our toilets —specifically, one thing we’d redo if we could -- Lighting. It is such a crucial detail that often gets overlooked, but it truly sets the mood in a space. For our toilets, we went with conventional white light. While it brightens up the space and serves its purpose, it turned out to be a bit too harsh for our liking. We’ve often found ourselves wishing we had chosen something softer to create a more calming atmosphere. Fortunately, with the Climate Vouchers this year, we’re planning to go shopping soon to find something that better suits our vibe :)
  • We often joke that it's a 'Mr. & Mrs. toilet system' at hwashan_ because our two toilets couldn't be more different. This one’s designed for KH, who wanted a more masculine and darker theme. We leaned into that with black pipes and a grey overall look, which really sets the tone. Fun fact: the wall tiles here are the same as the tiles we used on our kitchen floor! For storage, we kept things simple but practical. We opted for some off-the-rack under-sink storage with a soft-closing function—no more loud slams, just smooth and quiet every time. It’s perfect for stashing away essentials like toilet paper and other cleaning supplies.
  • We also added a floating shelf to display a few small items, which adds a bit of character to the space. The real showstopper, though, is the art print we recently displayed. It adds a pop of color and a funky vibe to the toilet. And we couldn’t resist a little cheeky pun with "good things take time" displayed above the toilet bowl. Get it? 😄
  • So, to all the new homeowners out there, take your time with your choices—especially with lighting. A little tweak can go a long way in making your space feel just right!
