Welcome! The gate is the first thing you see so it sets the tone for the house. We realised we like older gate designs which give the house a lot of character. We sent a screenshot from google images of "old HDB gates" to our ID and it came out exactly as we hoped! We often get asked if this was the original gate. Not having keys means one less thing on our minds! We chose to get our digital door locks from Hafele during an IT sale due to its sleek design. We had to make sure it was thin enough to fit between the door and the gate. There are 4 ways to unlock: fingerprint, key fob, key card and pin number. Another function that comes with this lock is its pairing of the gate and door locks. Unlocking the gate unlocks the door too! One way to demarcate the entryway without any built-in carpentry is to have a shoe cabinet and a stool that separates the entry way from the living room visually. We love that it is open, spacious and the space is well-utilised compared to conventional entryways. Our stool gives us a place to sit while wearing our shoes and can serve as additional seating when guests come over. We had to make sure our shoe cabinet is large enough to fit all of our shoes. It comes with moveable shelves so we can adjust the height according to our shoes. We were lucky to have "inherited" this from our parents' place as we couldn't find one that fit our shoe needs. The top of our shoe cabinet gives us a place to put other miscellaneous items such as car keys, room sprays and trinkets! One additional thing we love about our shoe cabinet is that it comes with drawers to put our socks in. Great function to have when considering your shoe cabinet.
