  • Hi! Welcome to our post where we share more about the bathrooms in our home! As we did not engage an ID, we decided that we would "take charge" of one bathroom each, and make all the decisions for that bathroom. You might want to guess which bathroom is designed by me and which is designed by my husband, I will reveal it at the end of the post! :D This is the common bathroom, and the colour scheme for this bathroom is brighter so that the space looks more spacious and airy. The sink is an integrated one which has been easy to maintain, as we find the usual sinks secured with silicone prone to mould. We put a diatomite tray at the tap area to absorb water splashed around there.
  • We changed out the all too familiar HDB grid/honeycomb-like panel for acrylic panels, my husband then pasted LED strips in it for cove lighting, it gives off this diffused glow and makes the lighting soft and gentle. This is the default light we use in the bathroom :)
  • We opted for gunmetal finish for all our bathroom accessories and we both really liked how it looked so gunmetal became our selected choice across both bathrooms! We keep our shower area enclosed as we prefer to separate the wet and dry areas.
  • The common toilet wall tiles are in a beige tone which we feel is easy on the eyes and timeless. The tiles also look somehow textured which makes it look less boring but it is still smooth to touch.
  • Instead of a kerb, we did a drop-down for the enclosed shower area for both bathrooms as it looks more subtle and prevents us from stubbing our toes :) The floor tiles are in a light grey so that the entire look of the bathroom stays neutral and simple.
  • This is what the throne looks like in this bathroom, you can see the towel rack above and the toilet paper holder that conveniently allows us to leave our phones there, I forgot how many times I have left my phone on the toilet paper holders in both bathrooms haha.
  • A zoomed out look at our smart mirror cabinet, sink and vanity. This actually came in a full set, the colour of the vanity goes really well with the beige theme and we have kept to the same colours of grey and beige here. There is ample storage in the mirror cabinet and drawers for our cleaning supplies and toiletries.
  • Moving on, this is our master bedroom bathroom and this bathroom is kept darker so that it actually looks cozier especially with the cove lighting at night. This helps us to really unwind while washing off our exhaustion after a long day of work. The smart mirror cabinet and integrated sink with vanity also came in a set and we got everything from Taobao :) The walnut wood vanity was chosen as our mid-century modern home has lots of walnut wood elements.
  • Similarly, we changed to acrylic panels in this bathroom. We have a main light in the bathroom as well if you take a closer look at the picture, but we don't use that much since that light is a lot harsher in comparison to just using the cove lights. But it is good as a backup light source or when we are cleaning the bathroom and need strong light!
  • This is what the shower area looks like, we love the contrast between the dark grey wall tiles and our green subway-tiled feature wall.
  • We were contemplating doing a shower ledge under the shower head/rain shower for our bottles, but did not want the water to pool too much there hence we ultimately still went with a gunmetal wall-hung tray to put our shampoo and soap bottles.
  • This is the rain shower column that we chose for our master bedroom bathroom, and a closer look at the feature wall in the shower area, we used beautiful forest green gradient subway tiles which aligns with the other green feature wall elements in our home :) Still not sick of this view when I shower.
  • That's the end of our post on the bathrooms in our home! And if you have made a guess, here is the answer! The master bedroom bathroom is designed by me and the common bathroom by my husband. Interestingly, he is usually one who likes darker tones and I am more inclined towards lighter tones so I guess we might have been designing the bathroom based on the other's preference (is this what love is? LOL) But anyhow, I love both bathrooms and I hope this post helped a bit if you are about to renovate your bathroom! Have a great week ahead :D
