  • Hello, welcome to our cosy living room. We did away with built-in carpentry, so as to make our living room feel more spacious. But be prepared to source your own furniture pieces, especially for storage . It could take quite a bit of time. We also changed the layout of our living room, which is different from the typical HDB recommended ones. The dining area is allocated near the window, so as to maximise the length of the living room spatially and extend the space visually. Our base colour for the living room is white and walnut, with red as the accent colour. The red sideboard was chosen for both aesthetics and storage purpose. A walnut coloured shoe cabinet was also placed at the entrance (not in shot).
  • There were quite a few recess walls in our living room, including this wall. We made good use of it and turned it into a tv wall. The tv console was also sourced separately at The Reject Shop, that sells rejected/off season furnitures from big furniture brands. We fell in love with the round edges and beautiful walnut colour.
  • A curved wall was added to soften the look of our living room. If you notice, most of our furniture comes with round edges!
  • This book with a pop of red was added as it matches the colour palette of our living room. Dom is a big fan of Godzilla as it was his favourite childhood kaiju film.
  • There was also a big recess wall against the sofa area. With the help of our ID, we took the chance to turn it into a niche wall, so as to display our favourite knick-knack and art decor pieces.
  • This is the view from our hallway. It was placed at the centre intentionally for alignment and aesthetics purpose.
  • A close up of some of our favourite decor pieces, such as - the cross that reflects our Christian faith - the floral frame that we made at a recent HipVan's ambassador event, - the bowl that I (Choo) had made at a pottery class. They were placed next to each other as they have similar accent colour.
  • These decor pieces were displayed as they have pops of red/pink colours. A bit of background of these pieces: The art on top was bought at Pameran Poskad - a community exhibition that is open to anyone and everyone who would like to participate. Dom bought three pieces in total, as he loves the colours and composition, and to show support for our local arts scene. The beautiful mug was purchased at Doy Din Dang Pottery store in Chiang Rai, run by a senior Japanese-Thailand couple. Last, the flourishing sakura tree was painted by us.
  • This money plant (real) was chosen due to the trailing leaves, which made it look nice on the niche. This is also a prelude to our next post that features the plants at our home! Stay tuned!
