Our sacred space for rest, the master bedroom was designed to be simple, pure and inviting for us to wind down and pull ourselves away from our busy lives. In our bedroom, there’s no TV or entertainment as we wanted to create a space purely for rest. In the initial planning for our home, we had wanted to change the orientation of the toilet so that it wouldn’t be the first thing that we see entering a space for rest and relaxation. We eventually retained the original layout so that we would be able to use the space for our built-in wardrobes more efficiently. Entering our master bedroom, you are first greeted by a sliding barn door which was suggested by our ID to double up as the master toilet door as well as a display area for N’s vintage comics 😬 Most of the time the door to the bathroom is closed so even when guests come over and our bedroom door is open, they can appreciate the comics and even take them out to read! As you might notice, our master doesn’t have a ceiling fan like most bedrooms do (because we have a weird fear of Final Destination happening iykyk), so some might ask what if the bedroom gets too hot or stuffy? To answer that, we decided to install a corner fan instead, which fits in perfectly and provides enough ventilation and cooling as well! For those who have a smaller bedroom, perhaps this could be something to consider! 💡 For our wardrobe, we kept it fairly straightforward with a Mr and Mrs split evenly with our bed in the middle. This helps us to separate our clothes and also gives us the freedom to customise the cabinetry within to cater to our needs (Long format slots for J’s dresses, etc). Together with our headboard, we also had a led strip installed with it so that we could have ambient lighting in the bedroom which helps us to settle down. Ambient lighting helps to give off a cosier feel and also helps us to wind down and relax. Along the headboard, we have sockets with USB ports installed so that we could easily charge our phones and devices before we sleep. Our ID Rachel from MET Interior suggested to elevate the frontal portion of the headboard so that we could hide the unsightly cables and have a cleaner aesthetic which makes us feel at peace. 😌
