  • Welcome to our cosy open kitchen! We knew we wanted to have an open kitchen to make the main living space bigger and brighter. The island doubles up as a bar counter, where we can enjoy a simple breakfast or light drinks in the evening.
  • We chose to keep the vinyl flooring even at the kitchen for a consistent look. As we don't do a lot of heavy cooking, this is still manageable for our lifestyle. :)
  • The cooking space could comfortably fit a 4 zone induction hob while having sufficient space on both sides to place extra bowls or utensils needed for cooking. Having the hood helps to control the grease and oil on occasions of heavier cooking. We opted to add in handles on our drawers & cabinets, for some extra details and accents.
  • For storage at the cooking area, we have double pull out drawers on both side, where we have a spice rack for easy access to condiments during cooking, as well as drawers beside for storage of pots and pans as well as our bulky Ninja Foodi. Tip to plan in advance the appliances you would like to have and plan where to keep them.
  • Similarly, for our island storage, we have an inner drawer for cutleries, and a bottom drawer for plates & bowls. This helps to achieve a cleaner proportionate look without compromising efficient storage space.
  • One thing which we thought was a must to have was a dishwasher. We opted for a semi-integrated dishwasher that blends in well and achieves a consistent look. It is definitely a marriage saver, especially during hosting sessions or intense cooking being done. Not to mention, as we have a relatively small sink space, it definitely helps to use the dishwasher when we have a heavy load. However, on a daily basis, we utilise a simple portable dish mat. :)
  • We opted for a slim water dispenser to fit into the sleek and minimalist look of the kitchen island. Water dispenser is another must have in kitchens as it is a convenient way to get water of varying temperatures.
  • All in all, it is a cosy yet highly functional kitchen, combining aesthetics and practicality in one place.
