Welcome to our kitchen! This is where the Santorini theme comes alive, fulfilling the Mrs' lifelong dream of having a home that embodies the serene beauty and coastal charm of the iconic Greek Santorini island. (Fun fact: We went to Santorini for our honeymoon too!) The kitchen is decked in Santorini-themed white and blue design, reminiscent of the island's iconic whitewashed buildings and azure domes. Wanting to create a durable kitchen, we also searched high and low before deciding on the final laminate choice – Lamitak’s Ethan Blue and EDL’s Style White. To complete the look, we specifically picked a white marble like design sintered stone for the kitchen countertop and backsplash. We decided on the sintered stone material due to its exceptional durability and versatility. Sintered stone is more resistant to heat, scratches and stains. Our kitchen is a Galley design layout. To fully utilise the storage space area in our small kitchen, we built top and bottom cabinets on both sides of the kitchen. We also catered drawers for most of the bottom cabinets, apart for the area below the gas hood hob area and the sink area. We also specially designed hidden switches for our kitchen plugs to have a more seamless look. Having used gas cooking in our previous home, we decided to continue using it. Being able to visually see the fire flame helps us to gauge the heat level more intuitively We designed a concrete sink support for our sink area, hence we were on the look out for a sturdy stainless steel sink. After having viewed various designs, we eventually picked this honeycomb stainless steel sink. This honeycomb stainless steel sink is less resistant to scratches, with a pull-out kitchen tap for easy cleaning. This is how the concrete sink support looks like below the sink! Tiles are used to cover the cement base. The concrete sink support helps to support the heavy sink and prevents sagging or warping overtime as it is waterproof. We specially designed a double layer condiment rack near the cooking area to keep everyday sauces, spices and seasonings within convenient reach! To organise our plates and bowls, we use these organisers to store them neatly! Follow us on IG @ourbtohome for more home design tips and recommendations!
