One of the biggest decision and process that all homeowners will need to go through is renovation budgeting. This is the one process that one will hate it if you are low of budget. As a homeowner, it is very important to place this process as one of the very first 2 things to discuss as it will change how you guys navigate all your decisions making. 
Once a budget is set, see whether your renovation quote burst your purse? If it does, take your renovation quote and go through each line item as thoroughly as possible. Tick the ones that you cannot let go and assess the leftover. One of the cost-cutting tips will be to find similar substitute materials of tiles or countertop or reduce carpentry. 
Last by not least, it is always good to ask your ID or contractor to list down the quote in detail so that you know what works are involved. This also helps you in your decision-making process when you compare the quote in the initial stage and also later on when you want to remove or make certain changes.
