  • Welcome to our mini Service Yard! This is also a part of our Kitchen without any clear demarcation. If you had came from our Kitchen post, you would know that our Kitchen is pretty small, and we did not make any changes to the layout of the Kitchen + Service Yard so we needed to maximise all space possible to make things work!
  • This also explains why our Kitchen Countertop on the right was extended all the way to the window and our Hood is placed right next to our Electric Laundry Rack. Thankfully this isn't too big a problem for us because we knew our Kitchen is very windy and receives strong afternoon sun, so our clothes are pretty dry within a day, which means we could keep most of it before cooking dinner. That said, we've also tried stir frying kimchi, curry and many more even when our bedsheets / blankets are hanging right next to it and so far there's no sight of oil stains or lingering smell! Our only explanation for this is either 1) strong wind or 2) very good Hood hahahha
  • Also, the seemingly good aspect of our BTO service yard was the tiled up HDB pipe access, the wall you see on the left in this picture. GOOD because it covers up all the ugly pipes so we don't have to incur more reno costs to have them covered up, or risk having water leakages which may damage carpentry. BAD because we could have had the option of building full height carpentry to take advantage of the space between pipes for storage purposes. Nevertheless, we kept it as it is and did not build any carpentry over it because should there be a need for HDB to access them for maintenance works, we'll have to tear down the carpentry. We're certainly not ready to have our hearts & pockets being torn that way so it was a firm NO to any carpentry in that area.
  • Though we decided to retain its look, it has a really ugly access so we decided to just cover it up with something that's aesthetic and useful at the same time - a Laundry Guide in a photo frame!
  • Look how simple & pretty it is! G & I have actually referenced this a couple of times since moving in because we've encountered some really interesting material that we needed to wash hahaha
  • We also gave up on the BTO manual laundry rack and traded in for $20 discount off our Electric Laundry Rack from GoodLiving because we knew there are times where we'll need the Air mode to dry our clothes especially during rainy days. No regrets getting this for sure! It's surprisingly able to hold ALOT of our clothes even during bedsheet washing days!
  • These clips are also a must! We got 3 sets of it so that we're able to hang socks, small towels or clothing in a more efficient manner.
  • Our laundry area is kept really simple, with just a laundry rack to hold our laundry nets, detergent and hangers. Lesser storage = lesser purchase = lesser clutter! We also had to keep the rack up to this height to cater to the maximum drop from Electric Laundry Rack.
