  • Our living room is where we spend most of our time together, and unlike most homes, we’ve chosen not to have a TV. With the space constraints of a 3-room HDB, we went for a smaller modular island sofa and extended the lounging area to the floor with a soft rug.
  • This space is all about unwinding and being present, whether it’s just the two of us, our cats, or when family and friends come over.
  • We embraced an open concept to create a better flow and to avoid the house feeling too claustrophobic. We removed the kitchen wall and used different floor tiles to subtly separate the spaces. The structural beam overhead was transformed into a half arch, adding visual interest and making it feel more intentional.
  • We extended the kitchen countertop to meet the beam, creating a cozy bar seating area that doubles as a functional kitchen prep space. It’s also where we’ve set up our music station and coffee machine.
  • To maximize our space, we knocked down the wall of one bedroom, which now serves as our dining room and studio/workspace. We installed a sliding door to give us the option of creating a private space for cozy dining or when we need some separation—especially useful during the peak of Covid when we had to isolate from each other.
  • In our previous bedroom post, we shared about the beautiful sunrises we get to witness and the sunlight we enjoy from the kitchen end of the house. The city view from our window is both chaotic and calming, though we sometimes wish we had a nature view. Which would you prefer—a bustling cityscape or a serene nature view?
  • On this side of the house, we’re treated to dramatic sunsets that paint the room with a warm, moody glow, adding the perfect finishing touch to our interior design. *Spotlighting our half feature wall here. (Who says feature walls have to be a full dramatic centerpiece?)
  • One of the best parts is seeing our cats so relaxed at home. It’s clear they see this place as their safe haven.
