  • A big hello from Loafy.Haus! Can you believe how fast October is zooming by? That means we’re getting close to wrapping up our renovation soon. Let's talk about tiles today!
  • For our kitchen backsplash, we were aiming for that classic white subway tile vibe but wanted to cut down on the grout lines. Our interior designer came to the rescue with the perfect solution: matte subway tiles that comes in size L1200mm x W600mm, but still have that subway tile feel! Plus, I’m totally into the irregular look—it adds so much character and charm! Pro tip: Before your carpentry kicks off, make sure to confirm your countertop and laminate choices after the tiles are up. We decided to switch our countertop to something more simple for a timeless look, and I’m loving the fresh vibe it brings!
  • Our original plan was to keep the common bathroom as it was, with the HDB BTO tiles. However, during our site visits, we quickly noticed that the bathroom felt quite dark even during the day and had a rather gloomy appearance. To brighten up the space, we went tiles hunting again! Once the new tiles were up, we were absolutely in love. We also brought our laminates down onsite to decide which look goes better.
  • Our feature tiles from Hup Kiong are inspired by a Moroccan city, giving a modern twist to the classic decorative art of 'Zellige' tiles and their beautiful handcrafted techniques. Really loving the mix of gloss and matte tiles. Can't wait to see how it looks once our bathroom lights are installed.
  • Another pro tip when choosing main tiles for your bathroom is to consider their slip resistance. Tiles are given anti-slip tile ratings ranging from R9 to R13. R9 and above are recommended for bathrooms.
  • I wanted to add a splash of fun to our main tile choices to differentiate our service yard from the living space. Figured some cute tiles would brighten my mood while tackling those everyday chores like laundry. Who says doing chores can’t be a little cheerful?
  • The added sprinkle of colourful confetti is an interesting twist to make the retro pattern more fun and modern. Hope this article was useful to new home owners! Follow us on Instagram and HipVan to keep updated on our renovation journey!
