  • The journey to our home was a rollercoaster, after 10 tries at BTO and failing, we went to the resale market. Even in the resale market, only after 10 viewings did we meet β€˜The One’! 🏠 However we thought it was an interesting learning experience, where we not just learn about how the entire resale process worked, but also learning what both of us wanted out of a home and our considerations when looking at the flat. πŸ€” Our first consideration was that we wanted a place near at least one of our parents. With N’s family and most of his extended family living within the district, this was a tick in our checklist. βœ…
  • The next consideration was that we wanted our place to feel spacious and so layout was crucial. Since most newer flats tend to have a smaller living that is conjoined with the dining in an L shape, we looked at older flats for a more squarish shape. This shape lends us the freedom to switch up our furnitures and give a different feel to the home. When we first entered this place for the viewing, we had a 'WOAH' moment 🀯 and saw the potential for us to transform it.
  • Our third consideration was that we wanted a kitchen that could accommodate us in the kitchen together either for meal prep, brewing tea and coffee or cooking. β˜•οΈ 🍳 Thankfully for us, our 92’ flat had a longer kitchen, which allowed us to have ample counter space as well a larger stove and sink. Though the downside is that we don’t have a dedicated service yard area, all in all, we are satisfied πŸ‘πŸΌ
  • The last consideration on our checklist was that we wanted the rooms to have more natural light to help our bodies adjust to our natural circadian rhythm. This was a gamble that we took since during the viewing, the windows were all blocked out due to the previous homeowner’s preference for a darker environment πŸͺŸ Thankfully this worked out in our favour and we get a good amount of morning sun for us and our green buddies πŸͺ΄
  • We hope this post will give you some ideas and insights to what you envision for your dream home! Do share with us what are some of the criteria in a home that you can’t live without 🏠 Here’s a photo of a sunset from our living room window! πŸŒ‡
