Welcome to our humble nest! We are a couple living with our cat, Daikon, who's sure to make an appearance in some of our posts. Keep an eye out — you never know when she'll pop up in the background! As we open our home and showcase the little treasures within, we hope you feel the warmth and love that fills our heart. After all, our handle is @hellokokoro, where "kokoro" means heart! *** Today we're going to show you more of our little green corner! While we adore plants, we're far from having the greenest thumbs. Add a curious cat into the mix, keeping green babies thriving can be quite the challenge. Join us as we share how we make it all work in our home! Most of our plants are in the balcony and we have a mix of real and artificial ones. We repurposed this ladder, which used to hold bath towels in our previous home, by decorating it with faux plants, buntings, and a few knick-knacks to give it a fresh, spruced-up look! Here's a closer look at our "plants". For faux plants, we chose those with muted or darker shades of green and minimal gloss. We find that these details make them appear more realistic and pleasing to the eyes. Plants that drape down with cascading leaves add depth and movement to the space, creating a more dynamic and natural look. Whether real or artificial, they soften hard lines, draw the eye downward and lend a cozy-lived-in feel to any corner or arrangement. Next to the ladder, we have a small greenhouse that can be fully opened, closed, or kept half-open, as shown in this photo. It's a practical addition that not only protects our plants but also keeps our curious cat's paws safely out of reach! Here's a glimpse of how it looks when fully opened! Can you spot the real plants from the fake ones? In this photo, about 30% are real and 70% are artificial. For small potted plants like these, succulents are our go-to as they often look the most realistic with their fleshy leaves. To create a more interesting display and maximize vertical space, we added small acrylic partition shelves to stagger the heights of our potted plants, enhancing the overall visual appeal. Adding yet another personal and fun touch by displaying these dol hareubang (rock statue known as 'stone grandfather') bottles from our Jeju trip. Here's a wider view of our green wall in the balcony! On the opposite side of the balcony, we've added a single hanging plant with cascading leaves (left). There is also a pot of faux money plant suspended from the ceiling outside the bathroom (right). To maximise floor space, we chose these plants to be hung — being positioned higher also mean they appear even more realistic! Strategically placing hanging plants in various corners not only injects greenery but also enhances the overall aesthetic of the space. Tip: Plan ahead and ask your ID or contractors to install ceiling hooks specifically for hanging plants or decor! Here's a view of our green corner from the living room, looking into the balcony. We're considering adding wall-mounted plants to the ladder wall in the future! And that wraps up our mini green corner tour! Plants really help soften a space and bring a touch of nature indoors. We hope this inspires you to add some greenery to your home, whether you have green fingers or not!
