Friends, if you don’t have a smart home, this little thing is the easiest way you can set one up with little to no changes. We were reluctant to set up a smart home when we did our reno but after having our dog, it changed our minds 
Using the Apple HomeKit as a hub, we set up smart lights with Philips Hue bulbs and the Hue Hub to turn on closer to sunset. While we used to leave our lights on the entire day when we were both at work, having the smart bulbs allowed us to let it turn on automatically as it became darker. Definitely a worthy purchase if you are an Apple user like us. Of course the Alexa and Google hubs work too but we love using the Apple ecosystem, so yeah! The HomePod also allows us to monitor the temperature and humidity in our living room. We are seriously considering getting a dehumidifier that can sync up to HomeKit to activate automatically if the humidity gets too high! We also set up many scenes to quickly activate with a quick “Hey Siri!” and the most frequent ones we use are “Good Night” and “TV” scenes! 
Two other home appliances we can't live without would be our Nespresso Vertuo and RUHENS Water Dispenser. We both drink a lot of water and Nic drinks warm water every morning so with three temperature settings, we can easily get 40°C water without boiling and having to wait around. Our friends are big fans of the cold water function and they call it "perfect temperature water" so it's quite funny seeing them grab a glass to fill themselves a cup of cold water the moment they step into our house :) We recently upgraded our old Nespresso to a Vertuo Pop and we love how the Yellow pops on our counter top. It's been fuss-free and convenient for us and we use it almost everyday even on office days to prep a portion into our tumblers! We don't see ourselves committing to a proper espresso machine for now but one day when we have enough counter top space we'll definitely get one!
